DO I NEED A CROWN?

Your dentist is the only one who can tell you for certain whether or not a crown is right for you, but the following are a few instances where a crown is often a great solution: 

• You have a tooth with a cavity that’s too large for a traditional filling.
• One or more of your teeth have been badly worn down or damaged.
• You’ve just received a root canal treatment.
• One of your teeth is badly discolored or misshapen. 

Because crowns are able to protect weakened teeth and conceal flaws with a casing that looks just like your natural teeth, they can address all of these problems and more!

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF RECEIVING A CROWN?

The first step is preparing the tooth. This might involve reshaping the tooth so the crown will fit, removing any decay, or building up the tooth’s structure so it can support a crown. 

Next your dentist will take an impression of the tooth so your crown will be customized to fit. While your crown is being made, you may be able to wear a temporary crown to restore your tooth function in the meantime.

Lastly, your dentist will place the permanent crown! You’ll have the opportunity to make sure you like how the crown looks and feels before it’s secured in place. We’ll make sure you have a crown that will keep your teeth healthy and your smile bright!
