WHAT IS A DENTAL EMERGENCY?

The best way to determine whether something is an emergency is by trusting your gut. If you feel like you’re experiencing an emergency, you’re probably right! Always reach out to us as soon as possible if you’re worried about your teeth or gums.

The following are all common examples of emergency dentistry:

  • One or more teeth that have been loosened or knocked out completely.
  • A tooth that is bleeding heavily.
  • Extreme pain in the teeth or gums.
  • Painful swelling.

Even if you think you can handle the pain of these problems, don’t wait to be treated! Our team at Daybreak Dental is standing by to help you as soon as we can and prevent larger problems down the road.

WHAT SHOULD I DO DURING A DENTAL EMERGENCY?

The first step is always to call your dentist here at Daybreak Dental. From there, you should take any necessary steps to reduce your pain and make yourself feel comfortable.

If you’re experiencing pain or swelling, it’s a good idea to apply a cold compress to the area. If you’re bleeding, stem the bleeding with a clean piece of fabric or gauze that won’t disintegrate like toilet paper or tissues might.

Whenever possible, bring a knocked-out tooth to the dentist with you. While you wait for your appointment, store the tooth in your cheek or in milk—not water—if possible.

This was my first visit here after my wife gave me my instructions to finally go to the dentist after having not gone for well over a year. I’ve never really had a “good” experience at a dentist, but who does, right? Well, I cannot say enough good things about these folks. From the front staff, the dental assistant, dentist and hygienist, they were all incredibly nice and very informative. I actually left there happy that I’d gone, and actually looking forward to my next visit in 6 months. Thank you to all of the ladies that helped me, and thank you for your guidance and expertise! Great job!!

I had my first appointment with Dr. Kate Plagenz and was so pleased by my experience that I wanted to take the time to leave a five star review. This review includes my interactions with everyone I came into contact with at Daybreak.

Angie, the insurance coordinator, was great! I enjoyed speaking with and meeting you! Laurin, the dental assistant assigned to me. I appreciate your patience and the constant smile and reassurance. Dr. Plagenz, you are just awesome! Period. I appreciate you saving my tooth! It now owes its life to you. I know going to dentist is not something many people look forward to for many reasons, which I completely understand! However, if you're new in town or just looking for a good dentist, do yourself a favor and give them a shot (no pun intended). They are good people and made me feel at ease the entire time!

I have seen Dr. Rausch for over 20 years and as he moved to Daybreak I followed him there. The staff at Daybreak is friendly ( I like they greet me by ny name! ) and welcoming, from day one. The facility is clean, amenable, and my favorite is the complimentary drinks they have available. The dental hygienists and care staff are superb. I really enjoy them. For reference, I live in in Pflugerville, so yes, good service, care, and attention are worth the drive. Recommend.

Dr. Rausch has been my family's dentist since the 1990's and I recommend him highly for tooth care. Dr. Plagenz did a wonderful job removing a difficult tooth.
